Dec. 15th meeting

We had an excellent meeting on Tuesday. We've concluded that everyone is experiencing challenges across the district. We are looking into skills that are in our curriculum that may be too advanced for the students. More word to follow on that issue.

We also talked about using good literature to teach students not to write the way they talk. It is very important to read to students and to discuss with students what makes writers effective.

We will be having a How to Score Papers workshop in January. It is very informative and will help us all understand where we want the students to be. If we all have that understanding, it will be easier to teach them how to get there.

Look for word of our next meeting.

Welcome

This Blog is for you to write about issues, successes, and strategies from your classroom in as you teach Writing. This is a secure site, I must give them permission to view or to respond to the Blog. However, in the interest of privacy, only write about your experiences, not about any child in particular. Student work can be posted, but make sure any items that would identify the student are removed.

Some of you have told me that you felt so much better just knowing that others were having the same issues as you. And of course, we are life long learners and can always learn new tricks. Remember, the best teachers are accomplished thieves, they steal all the great ideas they can get their hands on.

Enjoy!!!
